Marketing your Art in 2025

Hello and welcome, especially if you found your way here through my recent feature in Canvas Rebel!
I’m so honored to have had the opportunity to share my story with their platform. If you’re new, I’m Madison, an artist balancing creativity, motherhood, and the dream of building a self-sustaining artistic life.

Now let’s talk about something every creative struggles with at some point. How do you actually market your art?

1. Start With a Story

Your art is already powerful. The story behind it is what connects with people. Share:

  • What inspired a piece

  • Your process and materials

  • Emotions behind the creation

Whether through blog posts, social media captions, or behind-the-scenes videos, storytelling helps people understand and trust your work.

2. Make Your Website Work for You

If you are selling prints, your website should be simple to navigate. It helps to feature:

  • Clear categories such as originals, prints, or commissions

  • Seamless checkout options

  • A helpful FAQ about sizes, materials, or shipping

3. Leverage Email Marketing

Email is still one of the most effective tools you can use. Build a list by offering:

  • A signup form on your homepage

  • A small freebie such as a phone wallpaper or discount

  • Regular updates on launches and new work

This gives you a direct line to your collectors without relying on social media algorithms.

4. Get Published or Interviewed

Getting your story on an external platform adds both credibility and search engine strength.

Being featured in Canvas Rebel was such a meaningful experience. It gave me the chance to speak about what drives me, and it introduced me to new people who truly value art.

Look for opportunities with art blogs, local creative zines, or even regional magazines. You never know who might be watching.

5. Use Social Media Strategically

Choose one or two platforms where your ideal audience is already active. That could be Instagram, TikTok, or Pinterest. Share:

  • Quick process videos

  • A carousel showing sketch to final

  • Studio restocks and shop updates

Finish each post with a clear call to action like "Shop now" or "Join my newsletter."

6. Show Up In-Person Too

In-person markets and gallery events help you build strong word-of-mouth. These face-to-face connections often lead to online collectors later.
